Tonight was a blast. I knew going into the men's gymnastics that the US team did not have much of a chance. Then they start sticking everything and just blowing routines away. I mean they were fantastic. Amazed everyone. So then they got my hopes up that we would get bronze, and then they started doing so well, hopes were up for us to get silver! Alas, the Japanese pulled out silver in the end, but it was a tough fight in the end for that silver. So for that I couldn't be prouder of our guys!!! China came away with gold, of course, which they SO deserved, and we got bronze. Yay!
Swimming on the other hand, was an entirely great and exciting night. The excitement never stopped. Out of 4 finals, the US won 7 medals, 3 of which were gold. Phelps got his gold, adding to his winning streak. It was defiantly swimming's night tonight!
It was a great night for the US.

Thanks for the update, Kim Costas.
I was actually a little upset with the gymnastics. 2 reasons:
1: The Chinese men got much higher scores than the USA even when the USA were better. I mean, both High Bar routines by the USA were perfect with stuck landings yet they only get like 15.7 or so. But one of the Chinese guys stepped OUT OF BOUNDS on his vault landing and still got a 15.9. I do understand that the degree of difficulty changes things but it just seemed a little whack.
2: The USA really should have gotten silver but no. The first two pommel horse guys totally screw up everything. Did they exceed their expectations? YES Did they reach their potential? NO
I am still very proud of them but I really thought they were gonna get silver.
